Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the Gives You Joy application (app.givesyoujoy.com). By creating an account or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Nature of the Platform (Non-Medical Disclaimer)
Gives You Joy is a peer-sourced community directory and subjective wellbeing tool. It is NOT a clinical healthcare provider, a regulated medical device, or a substitute for professional psychiatric, psychological, or medical treatment.
The "Joy Ratings" and peer reviews displayed on this platform reflect the purely subjective personal feelings of everyday users. They do not represent clinically proven efficacy. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, severe trauma, or physical endangerment, do not rely on this directory; navigate immediately to our in-app Crisis Hub or dial 999.
2. The Counsellor Directory
Our platform includes a directory of independent, third-party private therapists and counsellors.
- Verification: Mood Broker Ltd makes reasonable efforts to verify that listed practitioners hold active membership with a recognized UK governing body (such as the BACP, UKCP, or NCS) at the time their profile is published.
- No Agency: We do not employ listed counsellors, we do not supervise their clinical practice, and we collect no booking fees, split-fees, or commissions from your sessions.
- Private Contracts: Any therapeutic relationship you enter into with a listed counsellor is strictly a private legal contract between you and that practitioner. Mood Broker Ltd accepts no liability for clinical advice, session cancellations, fee disputes, or therapeutic outcomes.
3. User Accounts & Security
To use "My Toolkit" or submit reviews, you must be at least 18 years of age and register an account. You agree to:
- Provide truthful, accurate contact information.
- Keep your login credentials confidential.
- Accept responsibility for all activity occurring under your account instance.
You may close and delete your account at any time via the in-app settings menu.
4. Community Standards & Peer Reviews
Gives You Joy relies on high-empathy, honest community sharing. When submitting an activity review or Joy Rating, you strictly agree that you will not:
- Submit fabricated reviews for businesses you own, or malicious reviews for your competitors.
- Post content that is unlawful, defamatory, abusive, threatening, or discriminatory based on protected UK characteristics.
- Name, shame, or identify third-party individuals, venue staff, or other service users without their written consent.
We reserve the right to reject, edit, or permanently remove any user-generated content that breaches these standards, and to suspend violating accounts without notice.
5. Third-Party Links & Venues
Our feed contains geographic links to independent local parks, cafes, community centers, and group assets. Mood Broker Ltd does not own, operate, or inspect these third-party physical venues. We are not liable for personal injury, property damage, altered opening hours, or disputes that occur when you physically attend a listed community asset.
6. Intellectual Property
All native platform code, design architecture, graphics, and text are owned by Mood Broker Ltd.
"Gives You Joy" is a registered trade mark in the United Kingdom (Trade Mark No: UK00003282480) protected under Classes 35, 41, and 44. You may not extract, scrape, reproduce, or redistribute our database or brand assets without explicit written licensing.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by the laws of England and Wales, Mood Broker Ltd, its directors, and its employees shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or incidental damages, loss of data, or emotional distress resulting from your reliance on the Gives You Joy platform. Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our direct corporate negligence.
8. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any legal disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
